Why a Home Foot Spa is a Great Christmas Gift for Your Wife

Can you believe we’re already halfway through the year? Where has 2016 gone?

If you’re looking for a great Christmas present for your wife, my suggestion is a home foot spa, like one of these. I know it’s not the first thing most people think of when they see a wrapped package under the tree, but it’s really a great gift for a number of reasons.

Here’s why I think a foot spa is a great gift for your wife for Christmas 2017:

1. It recognizes her work

Many married women can feel unappreciated by society. Especially if you have kids and your wife stays at home with them, it’s really important to show her that you appreciate the work she does. Being a mother is hard! Whether she stays at home full time or manages to fit a job or career in as well, being a mom is probably the hardest, most under-appreciated job in the world. Since mothering is such a challenging, tiring (yet rewarding!) job, giving a home foot spa as a gift is really giving the gift of relaxation. After a long day on your feet, what could feel better then a relaxing soak? And by giving it to her as a present, you really show your appreciation.

2. It saves you the effort later

Even though you love your wife (obviously, or you wouldn’t be considering giving her a present!), there are times when you’re tired and don’t want to give her a massage. Giving a massage is tiring!

Instead of leaving her sore, by giving her a bath as a present, she’ll be able to relax her feet on her own. And with nice bath salts, her feet will smell better and she might even be more relaxed than if you’d done it for her yourself.

Maybe it’s a touch less romantic some nights to use a machine instead of massaging her in person, but in real life, not every day is romantic. At least this way you can get a break when you need one!

3. It’s better than a one-time gift

You might be thinking about giving a gift card for a visit to a masseuse, nail salon, or even a fish foot spa as your Christmas gift. Well, I’d urge you to reconsider. First, fish foot spa’s don’t really work all that well. Also, there’s a good chance that you (like me!) live somewhere where going to visit a foot spa for an appointment isn’t a realistic option. And doing it at home avoids the awkwardness of a stranger rubbing her feet.

Second, if you buy a trip to a salon or a masseuse, it’s only a one time gift. Once your wife has made her visit, that’s it. The gift has ended. And, she’ll likely want to go again, which can become expensive quickly! Giving a home foot spa allows her to keep getting the benefits of the relaxing bath again and again.

4. You can buy it online

If you were going to get a gift certificate for a foot massage or spa, you’d need to go to the store to get it. I don’t think there are any national massage chain stores, so I’m betting getting a certificate online is not an option. Well, ok, maybe Groupon might have something, but it’ll have lots of fine print and might be awkward as a gift and probably isn’t in your area.

But you can easily get a quality foot spa online. Here’s my foot spa comparison chart, or, if you’re really in a hurry, just order this one from Amazon. Cost-wise, they range from as low as around $20 up to over $100. Generally, you get what you pay for, but even a bit over $100 isn’t that much for a good Christmas present for your wife!

5. It’s a luxury item

For most people, something like this is a luxury item. Your wife will certainly like it, but it’s probably not something she’ll buy for herself. In my opinion, that’s the best kind of Christmas gift! Unless they have a medical issue that requires foot soaking, few people will actually ask for one, or go buy it themselves. That said, she’ll almost certainly appreciate the gift and your thoughtfulness in getting it for her!

Bonus Benefit

There’s one other reason to think about a foot spa as the perfect gift for your wife. What puts someone in the mood for intimacy better than relaxing their feet? 🙂
